The Feldenkrais method is a teaching method developed by Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984) in the 1950s. Following a serious knee injury, he decided to explore how he could regain the functional use of his knee and minimise pain. He used his knowledge as a martial art expert, and his dedicated interest in neurosciences to develop his method based on principles of body biomechanics, and the capacity of the nervous system to reorganise itself to let new patterns emerge.
Using curiosity to learn to move with more ease and fluidity
Understand better how you organise your movements, and learn to be able to explore new possibilities of freedom and ease with confidence
There was a time when you were an expert at moving in the most efficient way: no one taught you how to sit up or walk, you taught yourself to do this, through exploring movement. With curiosity, playfulness and repetition, coordination improved, and movements became easy and fluid.
Self empowerment and discovery of your limitless capabilities

Awareness Through Movement classesDuring a class you are guided to explore a series of movements. As you do the movements, you are invited to bring your attention to different parts of the body, to notice how they participate, or where you may be holding tension.
Some of the movements explored can be very small - like eye movements for example - or quite unusual. The idea is to approach movements gently, with curiosity, exploring variations, to discover the potential for better ease and greater coordination. The Feldenkrais method is a learning process in which little by little you learn to tune in to your sensations more finely, and you open doors of possibilities that you did not know existed. These possibilities are expressions of your own potential for growth and graceful living.
